Fun Easter Movies You Have to Watch!

Right after Lucy discovered her Easter basket and found all her eggs, I immediately asked Chuck to play these movies. Lucy still isn’t into the old-time look of these, but I’ll keep shoving them in her face until she loves them as much as I do.

The Easter Bunny is Comin’ to Town

Rankin/Bass continues their look back on the start of holidays with this 1977 classic. Very reminiscent of Santa Clause is Comin’ to Town, this film explores and explains how our Easter traditions came about including why we decorate eggs, the invention of the jellybean, and how we started wearing adorably sweet Easter outfits. You will also find out the answer to an age-old question – which came first, the chicken or the egg*.

Here Comes Peter Cottontail

This is my favorite of the two Easter movies by Rankin/Bass. I received the remastered DVD as an Easter gift when I was in my mid-twenties and I remember thinking: JACKPOT.

Set in cuteness overload April Valley and told by Conan O’Brien lookalike Seymour S. Sassafrass, this tale recounts the race between Peter Cottontail and Iron Tail to become the Chief Easter Bunny and ruler of April Valley. It is super cute and creatively brings in a little of each of the other holidays which makes it even more fun and awesome.
